Can you run 26 miles? They ask me. Well, not exactly running—not with these cranky knees that have prematurely retired me from soccer. I plan to walk my way to the finish line in support of a noble goal to increase the life expectancy of my compatriots. I need your support to raise funds for The Longevity Project by participating in the Accra International Marathon scheduled for late September 2008.
When Anna Bannerman-Richter first told me her goal to devote her time and sacrifice her legal business to set up an NGO to improve the life expectancy of Ghanaians, I likened her efforts of the Kenyan woman who started to plant trees to help the world. Anna's effort is just as noble. Too many people are dying for lack of knowledge and basic health services. This project is but a small and worthwhile effort to arrest these problems. Better yet, gird your loins and join me and countless others in beautiful Ghana.
